About Proverbs 3:5–6
The first nine chapters of Proverbs are written as a father’s instruction to his son. Chapter 3 is about the rewards of wisdom, and verses 5 and 6 are its center: trust in the LORD with all your heart, don’t lean on your own understanding, acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. “Straight” means clear and direct, not easy. The verse doesn’t ask you to stop thinking; it asks you not to make your own understanding the last word.
