About Matthew 11:28

Jesus says this near the end of Matthew 11, after a chapter of rejection and doubt: come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. The next verses speak of taking his yoke, because it is easy and his burden light. In Jewish usage a yoke could stand for the teaching a person takes on; Jesus sets his against the heavy loads others laid on people. The rest he offers is for the tired, not for those who have earned it.
