Best Christian Podcasts 2026: 20 Shows Worth Your Time

Want to spend more of your day in God’s word? Download Still to listen to scripture, guided prayer, and Christian meditations — and let the Bible meet you wherever you are.

The best Christian podcast is the one that fits the hour you’ll actually listen in. A daily Bible show works on the commute, a theology podcast needs a walk or a long drive, and a sleep podcast has to be boring on purpose. Below are twenty of the best Christian podcasts sorted that way, by what you need them for, with a quick top five if you only want one answer.

Two things about this list. Every show on it is free and on Apple Podcasts and Spotify unless noted. And three of the twenty are ours; they’re marked, they’re not at the top, and you can judge them like the rest.

The top five Christian podcasts, if you only want one answer

If someone asks for the top five Christian podcasts, this is the list most people would agree on in 2026:

  1. The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz) for reading the whole Bible with a guide.
  2. BibleProject for understanding how the Bible fits together.
  3. The Bible Recap for keeping a reading plan alive.
  4. The Holy Post for news, culture and a laugh.
  5. That Sounds Fun for a friend in your earbuds.

Each of those has a longer entry below, next to the shows it competes with.

Best daily Christian podcasts

A daily show only works if it’s short enough to keep. These four are.

1. The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz), Ascension. Number one on Apple Podcasts’ overall chart when it launched in January 2021, and still the reference point for religion podcasts in the US: 365 episodes, each with a passage read aloud, a short commentary from a Catholic priest, and a prayer. Around twenty minutes a day. You’ll finish the Bible, which almost nobody does alone.

2. The Bible Recap, Tara-Leigh Cobble. About eight minutes a day, recapping the chapters from a chronological reading plan, with the one thing to notice about God in them. It assumes you’ve done the reading. If you haven’t, it still makes sense.

3. Pray the Word with David Platt. Five minutes: one passage, one prayer built from it. The show for the day you have no time and know it.

4. 1 Year Daily Audio Bible, Brian Hardin. The Bible read aloud, a day’s portion at a time, running since 2006 with listener prayer requests at the end. Less polished than the others and beloved for exactly that.

If you’d rather read a short devotion than listen, our short 5-minute devotionals cover the same slot.

Best Christian podcasts for theology and Bible study

5. BibleProject, Tim Mackie and Jon Collins. Long conversations, usually in themed series, about how the Bible’s ideas connect from Genesis onward. On nearly every list of this kind, and it earns the spot. Start with a series, not a random episode.

6. Knowing Faith, Kyle Worley, JT English and Jen Wilkin (Training the Church). Systematic theology for people who don’t have a seminary degree and don’t want to be talked down to. Doctrine, one topic at a time.

7. Ask NT Wright Anything, from Premier. Listeners send questions, N.T. Wright answers them. Resurrection, heaven, suffering, politics. A good match for the person whose questions don’t fit in a sermon.

8. Truth for Life, Alistair Begg. Daily sermon teaching from a Scottish pastor in Ohio. If you want expository preaching, verse by verse, this is the steady option.

Best Christian podcasts for sleep and bedtime stories

This category is different from the rest. A sleep podcast should not be interesting. It should be slow, quiet and easy to leave.

9. Abide Bible Sleep Meditation, Abide. Guided Bible meditations and bedtime prayers, with music, from the app of the same name. One of the largest Christian sleep podcasts, and the one to try first if you like being guided.

10. Sleep Psalms with Bishop T.D. Jakes, Pray.com and iHeartMedia. Psalms read in a familiar voice over ambient sound. Launched in 2023 and still one of the more listened-to Christian sleep shows.

11. Still Christian Sleep Meditations, Still (ours). A passage of Scripture read slowly over quiet sound, with nothing that builds and nothing to stay awake for. Ten episodes so far, each paired with a companion article on this site, and plainer than the two above: no guide, no music swell. Details on our podcast page.

12. The Official Adventures in Odyssey Podcast, Focus on the Family. The companion podcast to the audio drama that has run since 1987, with episodes and behind-the-scenes conversations. For families, and for adults who grew up on it and want the story back.

For a longer list of story-shaped sleep listening, see Christian bedtime stories for adults, and for why Scripture works at night at all, Christian sleep meditation.

Best Christian podcasts for women

13. That Sounds Fun, Annie F. Downs. Conversations with authors, musicians and friends about faith, books and whatever is going on. One of the most listened-to Christian podcasts for women for years, and the reason is her hosting.

14. The Proverbs 31 Ministries Podcast, Lysa TerKeurst and team. Biblical teaching in short, structured episodes, often in series tied to a book. Practical, and steady in hard seasons.

15. She Reads Truth Podcast. The companion show to the She Reads Truth reading plans: a weekly conversation about the passage the community is reading. Best if you’re already using the plans.

Best Christian podcasts for men

16. Daily Strength: A 365-Day Devotional for Men. A short Scripture-based reading each day on the things men actually deal with: work, marriage, temper, silence. A few minutes each.

17. Dad Tired, Jerrad Lopes. Honest talk for fathers and husbands who feel they are failing at both, and Scripture that says otherwise. No hustle, no shouting.

18. The Holy Post, Phil Vischer and Skye Jethani. News and culture from a Christian angle, with humour, from the man who made VeggieTales and a former pastor. Not strictly a men’s show, but it lands there. Also the best answer to the question “what’s a good Christian news podcast”.

If you want a book, not a show, our guide to the best daily devotionals for men covers that.

Best Christian podcasts for teens and young adults

19. Becoming Something with Jonathan Pokluda. Built around questions from people in their twenties and thirties: dating, work, doubt, church. The steadiest young-adult show going.

20. Whoa That’s Good, Sadie Robertson Huff. Interviews that ask guests for the best advice they’ve ever received. Older teens and young women are the core audience.

For younger teens, honestly, the field is thin. Adventures in Odyssey (above) holds up to about twelve, and BibleProject is the show most youth leaders end up recommending after that.

Christian podcasts in German, and where to listen

If you’re in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, the English shows above work fine, but there’s very little in German. Still runs three German shows: Still, Schlafmeditationen (Scripture and meditations read slowly for the night, eight episodes), a daily Abendgebet (evening prayer) and a daily Tägliche Andacht (a short devotional on one verse). They’re on our German podcast page.

Where to listen matters less than it used to. Every show here is on Apple Podcasts and Spotify; Spotify’s Christianity category is the easiest place to browse, and Apple’s charts are where the daily shows sit. Reddit’s r/Christianity threads on podcasts are worth a search too, because they’re where the smaller shows get named.

One more option for the evening. If the sleep shows here get you most of the way and you want the rest, the Still app has more of the same Scripture-read-slowly audio than any feed can hold, plus a sleep timer that fades the voice and keeps the sound. Download Still on the App Store.

And if you’re comparing apps instead of podcasts, our best Christian apps comparison is the honest version.

Frequently asked questions

What are the top five Christian podcasts? The Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz, BibleProject, The Bible Recap, The Holy Post and That Sounds Fun. Those five cover daily Bible, theology, a reading-plan companion, news and culture, and conversation, which is why they show up on nearly every list.

What is the best daily Christian podcast? The Bible in a Year if you want to read the whole Bible with commentary; The Bible Recap if you want something under ten minutes that keeps a reading plan going. Pray the Word with David Platt is the shortest daily option at about five minutes.

What are some good Christian news podcasts to listen to? The Holy Post is the usual first answer: news and culture with humour and real disagreement. For a straighter news format, Premier Christian News in the UK and Christianity Today’s shows are the next stops.

What are the top 10 Christian podcasts? Add Knowing Faith, Ask NT Wright Anything, Abide Bible Sleep Meditation, The Proverbs 31 Ministries Podcast and Becoming Something to the five above and you have a top ten that covers every category on this page.

Are Christian podcasts free? Yes, all twenty here are free with ads or none at all. A few (Ask NT Wright Anything, Abide) sell an ad-free or extended version on top.

Conclusion: pick one show and one time of day

Twenty is too many. The way to use this list is to pick one show for one slot: a daily one for the commute, a theology one for the long drive, a sleep one for the last twenty minutes of the day.

Give it two weeks. If it doesn’t stick, the problem is usually the slot, not the show.

And if the slot you’re struggling with is bedtime, start with the sleep section. It’s the one place where the best Christian podcast is the one you don’t remember finishing.

Rest doesn't have to wait.
